The first type astronomical filter is intended for observing and photographing obscure astronomical objects such as nebulae, galaxies, star clusters and comets. The special filter characteristics allow transmission of only selected ranges of the visible spectrum, resulting in poorly visible objects are better separated from the background.

By maintaining the transmission for red, green and blue, the filter can be successfully used in advanced astrophotography. Both surfaces of the filter are protected by a thin and durable coating applied in IAD (Ion Assisted Deposition) technology. Due to the limited spectral range of the filter, it is recommended to use it with lenses with focal lengths longer than 100mm for the 35mm format.

In the case of wide-angle lenses, photos may have unnatural colors.
