Hoya R72 INFRARED filter 82mm passes mainly deep-red and infrared light while blocking wavelengths below 740 nm. It is designed for distinctive infrared effects in landscape, nature and creative photography.

HOYA R72 INFRARED blocks wavelengths below 740 nm so mainly deep-red and infrared light enters the lens. Transmission reaches 95% in the 760-860 nm range.

The filter can produce classic infrared effects such as bright foliage, dramatically altered skies and unusual tonal contrast. Correct white balance and post-processing are important when aiming for the familiar black-and-white infrared style.
Best results come from cameras that allow enough infrared light to reach the sensor. A factory IR-cut filter in front of the sensor can strongly reduce this spectrum and lead to very long exposure times.
In infrared photography the effective filter factor and required exposure compensation vary greatly with lighting and camera design. A tripod and careful histogram or live-view checks are recommended.
