Black Mist 1/2 – a pronounced cinematic character

TheBlack Mist 1/2layer gently diffuses light and lowers contrast mainly in bright areas without excessively affecting darker parts of the image.

A soft halo forms around lamps, spotlights, neon signs or the sun, giving the image a more atmospheric, cinematic look. The 1/2 version is the strongest of the common 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2 strengths, making it a good choice when diffusion is meant to be a deliberate part of the visual style.

Portraits, beauty and filming people

Black Mist 1/2 can help soften minor skin imperfections, harsh tonal transitions and aggressive light.

It is a useful creative option for portraits, music videos, short films, narrative scenes and other productions where the image should feel softer, moodier and less clinical.

CPL – reflection control and richer color

The integratedCPLreduces reflections from non-metallic surfaces such aswater, glass, leaves and painted surfaces.

It can improve scene clarity, increase color saturation and, under suitable conditions, help produce a deeper blue sky. This type of polarization effect cannot be fully recreated later in post-production.

Smooth polarization adjustment

The CPL effect can be adjusted smoothly byrotating the filter in its mount.

This makes it quick to match the intensity to the light angle, the surface in frame and the intended look of a specific shot.

Fewer reflections and softer highlights at the same time

The main advantage of this model is that both effects work simultaneously. CPL controls reflections and color, while Black Mist 1/2 shapes the character of bright areas.

In practice, a single optical element can deliver more controlled reflections, richer color, softer highlights and a cinematic halo.

MMS – fast on-set workflow

The filter uses theMagnetic Mount System. Its magnetic, threadless attachment enables fast installation and filter changes during a shoot.

This is particularly useful in film production, where a change in lighting or scene requirements can demand an immediate response from the operator.

Super Resistant glass and protective Nano coating

The filter is made from high-quality optical glass with multi-layer anti-reflective coatings. TheSuper Resistant (SR)construction uses toughened glass with increased resistance to mechanical damage.

TheNANOcoating is hydrophobic and oleophobic, helps reduce the adhesion of contaminants and improves surface scratch resistance.

Laboratory verified

The manufacturer verified the filter in laboratory tests. MTF measurement with iQ-Analyzer returned93% center-frame sharpness with the filter versus 91% without it.

Siemens star analysis showed no loss of resolution or image symmetry, while Imatest measurements showed no additional exposure falloff at the edges or corners. Testing also confirmed hydrophobic properties and surface scratch resistance.

Expandable MMS system

The filter can be combined with other compatible MMS elements to build configurations tailored to a specific scene.

At the same time, because CPL and Black Mist 1/2 are combined in one element, you do not need to stack two separate filters to achieve those two effects.
