Use and construction

The shaped body and rubberised grip areas provide a secure hold in both horizontal and vertical orientations. A standard tripod socket remains available on the base, so the grip can stay attached when using a tripod or monopod. The grip uses 1 EN-EL15 battery in the grip plus a battery in the camera body. It can alternatively be powered by 8 AA batteries. The additional power source reduces battery changes during longer photo or video sessions. A vertical shutter release and controls matched to the compatible camera body.
