Closer focusing for macro photography

A close-up lens increases the optical power of the system and lets the camera focus at a shorter distance. The diopter value describes lens strength — the higher the value, the stronger the close-up effect.

Reproduction scale example

At 100 mm with a +4 D lens, the source description gives approximately 1:2.5 reproduction and an object distance of about 25 cm. At 200 mm it gives approximately 1:1.25 at a similar distance.
