27" (68 cm) professional graphics monitor (68 cm) with hardware calibration at 2560 x 1440 resolution, featuring hardware and software color management features. Provides support for HLG and PQ curves for HDR video editing and a wide color gamut for displaying images in vivid, intense colors.
The CG279X features a built-in calibrator that automatically calibrates the monitor at preset intervals. This eliminates the need to purchase separate calibration hardware to ensure perfect color reproduction. In addition, the sensor has been improved so that when it is extended onto the screen, it does not obstruct the view and does not interfere with normal work.
ColorNavigator 7 is the latest calibration and quality control software for ColorEdge graphics displays. It combines all the features of EIZO's previous color management software, ColorNavigator 6 and ColorNavigator NX, offering a new and improved solution for professionals in various creative industries. ColorNavigator 7 simplifies calibration and ensures accurate color reproduction in photography, design, printing or video editing.
ColorNavigator Network is a tool that enables precise, centralized control of the parameters of all ColorEdge Series monitors running ColorNavigator 7 or ColorNavigator NX software. With it, network administrators can, among other things, set the operating mode, schedule automatic calibration, and register or change asset management settings whether the monitors are on-site or in another location. ColorNavigator Network resides on a secure cloud server, so customers do not have to incur the cost of purchasing and maintaining their own server.
The monitor supports HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) and PQ (Perceptual Quantization) curves to display and edit high dynamic range (HDR) video content. Using optimized gamma curves, the monitor is able to reproduce images much closer to human eye perception than SDR (standard dynamic range). As a result, filmmakers can edit images displayed with a wide tonal range, confident that they will be ready for further stages of post-production.
The ColorEdge CG279X reproduces up to 98% of the DCI-P3 space used in digital cinematography, as well as 99% of the Adobe RGB space. The wide color gamut also ensures faithful reproduction of the entire CMYK (ISO-coated and US web-coated) color spaces used in printing. The monitor also supports the BT.2020 broadcast standard.
In accordance with the DCI standard, the monitor offers a high contrast ratio of 1300:1 (a typical value when "Brightness" is selected for the DUE Priority setting). This enables the display of "true" blacks, which are generally difficult to achieve in typical LCD monitors. Even when looking at the screen from the side in a dimly lit studio, dark tones retain their depth.
The CG279X uses a 3D LUT table that individually adjusts colors by taking data from a 3D RGB table. The 3D LUT table takes advantage of ColorNavigator 7 software's emulation feature and mimics the film-like look of an image, allowing developers to see how their product will look to the end consumer. In addition, the 3D LUT table improves RGB color mixing, which plays an important role in reproducing gray tones.
Using a 16-bit LUT table, the monitor can display a 10-bit image with more than a billion colors simultaneously. This ensures smooth tonal transitions and a lower Delta-E ratio between adjacent colors.
The monitor offers predefined modes in which the color space and gamma values have been matched to DCI-P3, BT. 709 and BT. 2020. For viewing HDR content, DCI and BT. 2100 (for PQ curves) and BT. 2100 (for HLG curves). A built-in calibrator allows you to adjust and maintain brightness levels for each mode.
The safe area marker shows which part of the screen will be displayed on a particular device. This allows you to verify that captions and other text information will be visible. The color of the marker can be changed so that it is visible on every image.
The gamma curve is adjusted for each ColorEdge monitor individually at the EIZO factory in Japan. This is done by measuring the gamma values for each of the RGB primary colors (red, green, blue) on a scale of 0-255 and then using the monitor's 24-bit Look-Up Table (LUT) to select the most matching hues.
LCD monitor colors and brightness can be affected by fluctuations in ambient temperature and the temperature of the unit itself. ColorEdge Series models feature a built-in sensor that detects temperature changes and adjusts tonal gradations, colors, brightness, and other monitor settings to ensure the image appears correct at all times. The artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm in the CG279X can detect temperature and adjust settings even at high brightness levels.
A typical LCD monitor takes about 30 minutes to reach a stable level of brightness, chroma and hue. The CG279X takes just three minutes to fully stabilize colors. Whether you're in the studio or moving the monitor to any location, it only takes a moment to start working.
LCD monitors often exhibit fluctuations in image brightness and chromaticity in different parts of the screen. To prevent this, the CG279X monitor features EIZO's proprietary DUE (Digital Uniformity Equalizer) technology, which ensures that monitors leaving the factory have a Delta-E ratio of 3 or less. DUE also reduces the effects of ambient temperature fluctuations on color temperature and screen brightness, ensuring a stable display.
The ColorEdge CG279X has a lightweight, modern design that makes it easy to focus on the screen. The bottom bezel of the monitor is approx. The bottom bezel is about 46% thinner and the whole casing is 20% shallower than the previous model. Instead of traditional buttons there are electrostatic switches on the front of the casing, which give convenient access to the monitor's settings. There is a special handle on the back of the monitor that makes it easy to carry it from place to place. The CG279X weighs 10.3kg, which is 20% lighter than its predecessor - making it even more convenient to transport.
The ColorEdge CG279X has an anti-glare IPS panel that provides excellent image visibility. The monitor also uses dimming technology to minimize image flicker and thus prevent eye fatigue.
The built-in HDMI connector supports I/P (interlace/progressive) conversion - this means that the interlaced signal from TV and other video sources will be losslessly converted to progressive mode, ensuring excellent flicker-free picture quality.
Large format monitors often exhibit color shifts when viewed from the side. The ColorEdge CG279X uses an IPS panel with 178° viewing angles, so the screen can be viewed by more than one person at a time with minimal color and contrast shift.
Hoods are included with the CG series models to prevent glare from reflecting off the screen surface. The CG279X hood attaches magnetically to the monitor, making installation much simpler and quicker.
The monitor is equipped with a stand that allows you to freely adjust the screen height, tilt and swivel. It also has a convenient release mechanism that allows you to detach the screen from the stand in one motion.
The ColorEdge CG279X has three types of built-in USB ports: two type A, one type B and one type C, which allows you to conveniently connect your laptop with a single cable. Besides, the monitor offers DVI-D, HDMI and DisplayPort signal connectors.
The CG279X comes with a 5-year manufacturer's warranty that covers all components, including the LCD panel (lifetime limited to 30,000 hours). Offering customers such a long warranty is possible because EIZO products are made in the company's factories, allowing for strict quality control and ensuring the durability of each monitor. The manufacturer offers a guarantee of zero dead pixels on ColorEdge models for six months from the date of purchase. Brightness and color levels for the CG279X model are covered for up to 10,000 hours of operation from the date of purchase (Monitor brightness must be set at 120cd/m2 or higher and color temperature between 5000-6500K).
