Dragonfly – durable construction without sacrificing ergonomics

TheDragonflyseries combines a reinforced metal inner structure with lightweight composite parts. It develops the Irix concept by blending the handling and sensible weight associated with Firefly with the robust build and refined finish associated with Blackstone.

Dragonfly hallmarks include a scratch-resistant finish, a non-slip focus ring, engraved UV-reactive markings and seals that help protect the optics from dust and moisture.

1:1 macro with a comfortable working distance

A150mmfocal length and maximum1:1reproduction ratio let you photograph insects, plants, jewellery, product details and reproductions from farther away than with typical shorter macro lenses. Minimum focusing distance is0.345m.

The 12-element / 9-group optical design uses 3 ED and 4 HRI elements. Distortion is kept to around0.1%while 11 rounded aperture blades produce smooth bokeh. The focus ring offers a long rotation of about270°for fine macro focusing.

Macro, product, portrait and nature

The long focal length provides comfortable distance from small subjects and makes lighting easier to position. It also works well for portraits and product photography when you want a tighter angle of view and strong background separation.

Manual focus, Focus Lock and precise control

Irix Dragonfly photo lenses are designed for deliberate manual focusing. The wide textured ring gives a secure grip, whileFocus Locklets you lock a selected distance – useful for landscapes, astrophotography, product work and tripod shooting.

Manual focus with electronic convenience

Although focusing is manual, the lens includes electronics. They providecamera-controlled apertureP/A/S/M modes, exposure data recorded inEXIFand electronic focus confirmation.

The Sony E version also adds aClick / Declickswitch, allowing the aperture ring to work with click stops or smoothly – useful for both stills and video.

Sony E – native for Sony mirrorless cameras

This version has a nativeSony E mount. It covers the full image area on Sony full-frame bodies and gives a narrower angle of view on APS-C E-mount cameras.

Built for field use

Sealed construction and internal focusing help reduce the ingress of dust and moisture. Dragonfly is designed for regular work both in the studio and outdoors.

The tripod collar improves balance on a tripod, while internal focusing keeps the lens length constant.
