The 11-16 mm focal length makes this lens an attractive choice as a complement to standard zoom lenses. The constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 throughout the focal length range enables excellent results in low light conditions - it allows for better depth of field control and the ability to shoot without a tripod while maintaining a reasonable size and weight.

To achieve excellent optical properties, 2 aspherical elements and 2 very low dispersion elements are used to minimize distortions, control spherical aberrations and astigmatism, while achieving excellent edge-to-edge resolution and high contrast. A multi-layer anti-reflective coating improves light transmission and minimizes reflections, while a newly developed hydrophobic coating makes wiping and cleaning the front lens surface easier.

Design and functionality

In line with its tradition, the Tokina lens features a compact and robust construction due to the use of many metal parts inside the lens, ensuring excellent quality and long-term use in various shooting conditions. The refined external appearance has been specially developed to match the design of modern DSLR cameras.

The ATX-i 11-16 mm F2.8 CF with Canon EF mount features an internal Silent-Drive autofocus motor (SD-M) in combination with a precise GMR sensor, allowing for quick and precise focusing in AF mode. The clutch mechanism on the ring allows easy switching between autofocus and manual focus. The total length of the Tokina ATX-i 11-16 mm F2.8 CF lens does not change during focusing and zooming, thanks to the internal focusing and zoom mechanism. This also makes it easier to use filters.
