Samyang 16mm T2.2 VDSLR for Sony E
The fast ultra-wide-angle Samyang VDSLR 16mm T2.2 ED AS UMC CS cine lens is intended for compact interchangeable-lens cameras equipped with APS-C sensors. Samyang VDSLR-series lenses are fitted with geared rings compatible with follow-focus systems. This allows smooth and precise rotation of the focus and aperture rings. The aperture ring also operates continuously and silently. These modifications provide very convenient and effective control of depth of field and the focus plane while filming.
Optical construction and image quality
The lens was designed with exceptional care. Its optical construction is based on 13 elements in 11 groups. These include one very-low-dispersion ED element, one aspherical optical-glass element and one hybrid aspherical element. The lens elements are coated with multi-layer UMC anti-reflective coatings that provide very good light transmission. The lens speed is specified as a T-stop of T2.2. For easier reading of the focus and aperture scales, the markings are placed parallel to the optical axis of the lens.
