Samyang 85mm T1.5 VDSLR for Pentax
The optical construction of the Samyang 85mm VDSLR uses 9 elements in 7 groups, including one aspherical element. As with other Samyang products, multi-layer UMC anti-reflective coatings are used to enhance contrast and provide faithful colour reproduction. The 8-blade aperture produces especially smooth and pleasing background blur. The lens speed is specified as a T-stop of T1.5. For easier reading of the focus and aperture scales, the markings are placed parallel to the optical axis of the lens.
Focusing and operation
Samyang VDSLR lenses are equipped with geared rings compatible with Follow Focus systems. This allows smooth and precise rotation of the focus and aperture rings. The aperture ring also operates continuously and silently. These modifications make it exceptionally convenient and effective to control depth of field and the plane of focus while filming.
