The HOYA HMC NDx400 72 mm reduces the amount of light entering the lens by about 9 stops. Its ND400 filter factor and approximate optical density of 2.7 provide substantial control for daylight long exposures.
Exposure and motion control
The strong light reduction is useful for flowing water, waves, clouds and other moving subjects. It also allows wider apertures in bright light or more controlled exposure settings for video. This filter is not intended for solar photography or direct viewing of the sun.
HMC multi-coating
HOYA HMC multi-coating helps reduce reflections at the filter surfaces, limiting flare and ghosting. This is particularly useful during long exposures, when side light or point light sources can more easily affect image contrast.
