Hoya Graduated ND10 filter 52mm is a rotating graduated neutral-density filter with an ND factor of 2-10. Its soft transition of roughly 1 to 3 1/4 EV helps balance a bright sky against a darker foreground.

HOYA GRADUATED ND10 has an ND factor range of 2-10 and reduces light by roughly 1 to 3 1/4 EV. The darker upper area gives about 3 stops of reduction while the lighter lower area gives about 1 stop, with a smooth transition between them.

The aluminum frame rotates so the darkest part of the gradient can be positioned over the brightest part of the scene. This makes it easy to match the filter to the horizon or another brightness boundary.
The graduated effect is created by precisely bonding a wedge layer of super-clear HOYA optical glass to a wedge layer of ND filter glass, producing a controlled and smooth density transition.
The filter is especially useful when the sky is much brighter than the foreground. It helps retain detail in both highlights and shadows within the same frame.
