HOYA UV & IR Cut 55mm filter - controlled UV and IR cut

HOYA UV & IR Cut 55mm filter cuts UV rays below 390 nm and IR rays above 700 nm while leaving the visible spectrum to pass. It is a specialized filter for selected digital and cine cameras without an effective IR-cut filter in front of the sensor.

Targeted UV and IR blocking

HOYA UV & IR Cut blocks ultraviolet light below 390 nm and infrared light above 700 nm. This leaves mainly the visible spectrum reaching the sensor and helps reduce the influence of invisible wavelengths on the recorded image.

For cameras without an IR-cut filter

The filter is intended mainly for digital and cine cameras that do not have an IR protection filter in front of the sensor or have been modified. Cameras that already have an IR-cut filter may show color-balance shifts, so the camera manual should be checked before use.

Special optical coatings

The filtering effect is created by precisely designed coatings applied to optical glass. The transmission curve preserves visible light while cutting the adjacent UV and IR regions.

Lens choice matters

Because coating performance depends on the angle of incoming light, HOYA does not recommend this filter for lenses with a field of view greater than 60 degrees.
