The neutral full gray filter allows the use of larger apertures for shallow depth of field, the use of longer exposure times, which helps to show dynamic changes and movement in the frame e.g. flowing stream, flag fluttering in the wind or other objects in motion, avoiding burns caused by too much light. This filter limits the amount of light entering the lens by 3 stops (3EV).
