A Miniature Revolution on Your Camera: Overview of the Godox iT (iFlash) Series

A traditional speedlight – although powerful and indispensable in wedding or event work – can be quite a burden. Its large size, the need to carry spare AA batteries and the noticeable weight on the hot shoe mean that in street, travel or everyday photography, many creators give up using flash. Fortunately, Godox has decided to redefine the concept of mobile lighting.

Thanks to the new lines of miniature on-camera flashes, you no longer have to choose between convenience and light quality. From ultra-compact manual models, through advanced TTL units with touchscreens, to stylish retro classics – the manufacturer's range is richer than ever. Let's take a closer look at the individual series and see which flash will best meet your needs.

Pocket-sized little ones for everyday use: Godox iT20 and iT22

The iT20 / iT22 series was created for photographers for whom physical size is the most important criterion. These flashes are so small and light that once mounted on a mirrorless camera, you almost forget they are there, and after removing them from the camera, they easily fit into a trouser pocket or a small waist bag.

Despite their unassuming design, these models provide full compatibility with the TTL automation of a given camera system. This means that you do not have to waste time manually calculating power – the camera and flash immediately communicate with each other to determine the correct exposure of the frame. It is an excellent solution when you need to lightly illuminate a face in the shade on a sunny day or bring out the foreground during an evening walk around the city.

A featherweight hit: The “30” line (iM30, iM30Pro and the powerful iT30 Pro)

The series with the famous “30” in its name has won the hearts of photographers around the world, becoming one of the biggest hits in the small-light category. Here we find both simple manual units and advanced miniature all-in-one units.

Godox iM30 and iM30Pro

The basic iM30 model is the essence of simplicity – an extremely lightweight flash (weighing less than 80 grams without batteries) with simple power adjustment and powered by two widely available AAA batteries. The iM30Pro version goes one step further, adding the ability to tilt the head (tilt from 0° to 90°), which at such a small size makes it possible to soften the light by bouncing it off the ceiling.

Godox iT30 Pro – a flagship in micro size

If you are looking for absolutely uncompromising technology enclosed in a body weighing just 120 grams, Godox iT30 Pro is a model created for you. It is a miniature masterpiece that offers:

  • Color touchscreen: An extremely intuitive interface makes it easy to quickly change settings and control parameters.
  • Advanced flash modes: Full TTL automation, high-speed sync HSS (up to 1/8000 s), first- and second-curtain support and stroboscopic mode.
  • 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity: The built-in transmitter and receiver allow the iT30 Pro to be integrated into the extensive Godox X system ecosystem and controlled from a distance of up to 100 meters.
  • Built-in battery: An efficient cell charged via USB-C allows up to 560 flashes on a single charge, with a lightning-fast recycling time of just 1.5 seconds.

Innovation and modularity: Godox iT32 iFlash with the X5 system

The iT32 iFlash introduces a completely new approach to ergonomics in mobile photography. The real distinguishing feature of this flash is the detachable, magnetic X5 system foot. Instead of tightening the entire flash onto the camera, you mount only a small base on the hot shoe, to which the flash body itself attaches with a strong magnet in a fraction of a second.

This design opens up fantastic possibilities. One moment you can use the iT32 as a classic on-camera flash with TTL and HSS support, only to detach it by hand a second later and, holding it in your hand, illuminate the subject from any angle.

Because the flash has a built-in Godox 2.4 GHz radio module, it automatically works with the foot and other triggers, giving you complete creative freedom.

In addition, the iT32 has a built-in LED for scene preview (modeling light) and a magnetic mounting system for diffusers and color filters.

Retro style with full flexibility: Godox Lux Junior II Retro TTL

From the very beginning, the Lux series has attracted the attention of fans of analog design and vintage aesthetics. However, the latest version – Godox Lux Junior II – takes this series to a completely new level of functionality, solving the biggest drawback of classic retro designs, which was the inability to bounce light.

Finally, full bounce flash

The biggest improvement in the Lux Junior II is the fully movable flash head. The flash body rotates horizontally by 180°, while the head itself tilts vertically from 0° to 90°. Thanks to this, you can freely direct the beam of light toward the ceiling or side walls, avoiding flat, harsh lighting and achieving soft, dimensional portraits in both horizontal and vertical frames.

Modern technology under a vintage housing

The stylized body hides the latest Godox engineering achievements:

  • TTL automation and HSS: Full TTL synchronization saves you from calculations, while HSS support up to 1/8000 s allows you to work with an open aperture even in full sunlight.
  • System X radio receiver: The flash has a built-in 2.4 GHz receiver (32 channels, 4 groups), which allows it to be triggered remotely using any Godox transmitter (e.g. Xpro, X2T or X3).
  • USB-C lithium power: The built-in 7.4 V / 700 mAh battery provides approximately 400 full-power flashes and charges quickly via the universal USB-C port.
  • Universal hybrid foot: The well-designed contact layout allows direct compatibility with Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm and OM System/Panasonic cameras without the need to buy separate versions.

Which flash should you choose for yourself?

Choosing the right model depends primarily on your photography style and your expectations of the equipment. If you are looking for the smallest possible flash, preferably one that will fit in your pocket, then choose the Godox iT20 or iT22. If you need maximum capabilities but still in the smallest possible size, then the iT30 Pro seems to be ideal. In turn, if you want to quickly switch between working on-camera and flashing handheld, then the iT32 iFlash will handle the task. And if you like vintage style and at the same time need soft bounced light – choose the Lux Junior II flash.
